What are we drinking?
Sam and Lani shared a 2004 Riesling from the Buttonwood Grove Winery in New York's Finger Lakes district. $10 a bottle. 12% alcohol.
Wine notes: Buttery Notes. Full Body. Sam wanted to give it 4.5 glasses, but Lani's putting up the show notes, so Lani's 5 glass rating wins!

Shout-outs & Shout-offs to:
Sam: Shout outs to pretty much everyone who attended the RWA National Conference in Dallas last week, but with a big shout-off to the Dallas Hyatt for their horrible service.
Lani: Shout-out to her in-laws, who took the kids to Alaska so she could go on a wine-tour!
Listener question:
From Kim Hoelzi: Right now I'm in the process of editing my manuscript. How will I know when it's "done"? I keep picking at it making it better and I wondered if I'm simply avoiding sending it in. But on the other hand, I don't want to send it in before it's ready. See the dilemma?
We Recommend!
Both Lani and Sam recommend... the Cayuga Wine Trail! And additionally, Lani's adding a recommendation for Sam's Wonderful WWfW Pesto (great on fresh baked bread - yummmm!) Here's the recipe:

1 bag (or about 1 cup) of sun-dried tomatoes
1 small can (or about 1/4 cup) of black olives or kalamata olives (no pits)
4 large cloves of fresh garlic
good olive oil
crusty bread

1) Peel garlic and place in food processor
2) Add a bit of olive oil and run processor to chop up garlic
3) Add olives and run processor to chop lightly
4) Add sun-dried tomatoes and more olive oil
5) Run processor until all ingredients are chopped and mixed well (don't overprocess)
6) Add salt to taste
7) Put in a container and set aside for a few hours to combine flavors (do not refrigerate)
8) Smear on crusty bread or use with dipping oil

Ann from Australia:
I have a question about 'hard' street dates and how they effect the sales figures for a book. I'm on several lists and readers love announcing they found such and such book before it goes on sale formally. I've been a loud voice is saying this isn't good if it is before the street date. Your opinions?

Meet Samantha Graves

When I was a child, I used to sit in my backyard at night and pray for aliens to come and take me away. It's not that I didn't like my life; I just always wanted to see what was "out there." Over the next hill. On the other side. I found adventure in books, mostly fantasy, science fiction, comic books and my brother's Mad magazines. Turns out, that's the makings of a writer. Who knew?

Many years later, I discovered romance and writers like Jennifer Crusie, Jayne Ann Krentz, Linda Howard, and Nora Roberts. On June 8, 1998, I decided that I was going to write my own novel. I had no idea what I was doing but boy did I have fun, and I haven't stopped since.

Sometimes, you can't wait for the adventure to come to you. Sometimes, you have to make own.

Meet Lani Diane Rich

I'm never good with this part. Do you write it in first person and look like a goober? Or do you write it in third person... and look like a goober? Well, gooberdom awaits; I'm doing bullet-points:

Age: I'm in my mid-thirties. I'm not being coy; it's just that by the time I update this information, my age will have changed. By the time I vacuum the rug, my age will have changed. For those of you who care, get out your calculators. I was born on June 7th, 1971.

Why I Write: God help me, I can't remember who said it, but there's a famous quote about "Writers write because they can't do anything else." That's me. There are other things I can do - not many, but some - but writing is the only thing I couldn't stop doing. So, there you go.
